The court granted 2-day remand to classmate Raihan Siddique Amman and one-day remand to teacher Deen Islam in connection with the death of Jagannath University (JnU) student Fairuz Abontika.

Judge Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique granted their remand on Monday (March 18) afternoon.

Earlier, they were taken to the court under special security around 12 noon. Later, when classmate Amman applied for five days and teacher Deen Islam for two days, the court granted Raihan Siddique Amman's 2 days and Deen Islam's 1 day remand.

Incidentally, last Friday night, Fairuz Abontika committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Cumilla's Bagichagao. Earlier in her Facebook status, she blamed the university's former assistant proctor Deen Islam and his classmate Amman for her death.

After Abontika's death, Jagannath University became agitated demanding justice for those responsible. Immediately after the incident, the accused Deen Islam and student Amman Siddique were temporarily suspended by the university administration. After that last Saturday, Abontika's mother filed a case against the accused at Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station. Deen Islam and Amman were arrested by the police on Saturday.
